Olympics 2012

Anyone else looking forward to the Olympics? Or thinks its a good idea to have them at all.

I think its a big waste of money, not only in these times, but anytime.

It would be a better system if all countries taking part helped pay for it all. This would then allow the less developed countries to take part in such a huge event.......

anyone else think it might be a good solution?

Perhaps the time has come for a permanent site and all competing countries pay a fee to enter? :)

i agree......the economic problems has really made me think about this one......it would be a good idea (with some further thought) if it was either 2 options

1. Event held in one place and no entry fee as advertising should more than cover it.

2. Every country entering must help fund the building/infrastructure works in the host country.....then it becomes a great opportunity for less well off countries to participate.....image the olympics in thailand or vietnam....great locations as a visitor...


i like the idea of option 2, gives every country a chance to host and give the spectators a chance to visit somewhere different every 4 years.
